Industry Programs

Working in the fast-paced world of technology, CISDD recognizes the ever-changing needs of the software industry and constantly strives to meet future challenges and exceed the high standards of technological innovation. CISDD actively partners with the software industry and uses its funds and faculty expertise to support software industry professionals in the development of products and technologies with commercial promise under its CUNY grant program. In addition, CISDD works with software companies, faculty and PhD students to obtain Federal and State Funding grants for industry partners in the areas of software research and product development.

CISDD works closely with the software industry in New York City, as well as Westchester and Nassau counties, through cooperative activities with NYSIA, CISDD's general educational outreach efforts, and additional solicitations of funded projects and contracts.

CISDD is seeking out synergies and long-term partnership relationships with software firms in the NYC economic region to create fundable project proposals to attract federal and state grants. Entrepreneurial research grants vary annually, but past applications include SBIR/STTR and NYSTAR programs. Partnerships for Innovation
Highly competitive projects may be eligible for funding through CISDD's "Partnerships for Innovation" (NSF-PFI) grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). This program is no longer accepting new applications.

Faculty-Industry Groups
CISDD encourages faculty-industry interaction through NSF-PFI funded Faculty-Industry Groups, in Computer Security, Gaming Technologies, Imaging and Visualization, and Software Engineering.

Sloan Foundation Project
In 2004, CISDD began work on a project funded by the Sloan Foundation to foster a new relationship between CUNY computer science programs and NYC-based financial firms. This partnership was created with several goals in mind, including creating a permanent relationship with the finance industry based in NYC.
